這兩天，在網路上大家猛力抨擊討論的新聞，卻全然不見任何主流媒體報導。如果不是因為Twitter，我也許會真的相信苗栗縣長五星級的報導，期待苗栗被大家看見的那一天。我怎麼能夠想見，在這塊號稱民主、自由的土地上，會有政府的怪手開進農民辛苦栽種即將收耕的稻田裡，擁著他們所謂的公權力任意破壞、踐踏人民的血汗。
這篇文章是要響應我學長Pornoy發起的串連活動，但想了想我還是用了自己想要的標題。寫文章之前，請大家先看看6/9竹南大埔的農民是如何被政府踐踏。
台灣有個「苗栗王國」？

我對苗栗一直有著很複雜的情緒。
我媽是土生土長苗栗客家人，從小每到寒暑假都會回去，但是活動範圍也只限於外婆家附近，以及南苗的媽祖廟周邊而已。有那麼一兩次，我們帶著外婆去九華山、去龍騰斷橋，但也僅只於此而已。我對苗栗的印象，就停留在外婆家已經拆掉的二樓階梯，以及大大小小的廟宇。
但我知道苗栗人是熱情的，不管到哪裡，他們總用著我聽不太懂的客家話寒暄問暖；每次回去只是在客廳坐著，鄰居也會散步過來聊天喝茶。小時候覺得無聊，長大後覺得這樣的質樸，或許正是苗栗可愛的地方。在這裡，客家話才是通用語言；在這裡，農田是基本景觀，孩子們都打著赤腳奔跑著。
然而當我2008年鐵路環島的時候，我突然覺得苗栗好陌生。那一趟旅行中，當我走出每個城市的車站，我都會拍下第一眼看見的樣貌。火車站畢竟是城市中重要的聚集地，就算沒有百貨公司，大多也有熱鬧的商家、名產店，至少也像台東，有許多等著接客人的民宿業者。
從小來回苗栗車站這麼多次了，我卻才第一次意識到，這裡什麼都沒有。沒有人、沒有車、沒有店家。
雖然我知道這幾年來，苗栗逐漸有了一些節日，有元宵炸龍、五月桐花祭，有南庄擂茶。可是不知道為甚麼，我總覺得苗栗是被淡忘的一個城市，這些事情好像都很遙遠。
後來想想覺得也罷，也許苗栗就是適合用這樣的方式存在，有客家人們爽朗的笑聲與綠地、稻田，每個城市本來就有屬於他自己的面貌與風格，也許更該感謝她是這樣質樸純淨的存在，默默的為台灣這片土地付出，保存著原本的樣貌不被同化，沒有都市的喧囂、沒有工業廢氣、沒有觀光客留下的滿地垃圾。
然而將苗栗人民的血汗踩在腳底下的，卻是媒體書寫的「五星級縣長」。不但沒有保護人民的權益，反而恣意踐踏、暴力相向。我不懂，我是真的不懂，把怪手開進即將收耕的稻田中，用大批警力圍堵老農與婦孺，用諷刺的言語與恥笑對待流淚的農民，就是我們偉大的政府？毀壞良田與人心，難道就是你們所謂的勝利？
更可悲的是不論部落客們怎麼書寫、公民記者如何詳實紀錄、網友發起連署…..這整件事情仍舊在主流媒體中不見天日。離開電腦之後，沒有人知道苗栗的居民們是如何被糟蹋，沒有人知道稻田中的麥田圈不是外星人的傑作，而是政府無情的痕跡。
我一向對於社會議題鮮少發言，因為我知道自己根本沒有付出，也不知道該用什麼角度去看待。但這次，我卻忍不住憤怒了。如果你跟我一樣，感到氣憤卻不知能做什麼，那麼至少可以加入文章串連，以及連署聲援。
至少，我們可以讓這些文字在網路上永續留存，用我們的方式紀錄消失於媒體中的歷史。
